Stonehenge

Countries throughout the world have structures for which they are famous. There are many of these buildings and structures, and each one has its own special reasons for being built and used. One example would be the Taj Mahal in India, which had been noted as a monument of love, but was also used as a religious temple. Then there is the Great Pyramid of Khufu in Egypt, which was built by the Egyptian pharaoh Khufu, to serve as a tomb for him when he died. In China, the Great Wall was created as a defense mechanism against raids of nomadic peoples. Europe has many edifices for which they are famous. One of them is Stonehenge, which is located in England. To this date, no one is quite certain how or why Stonehenge was created. Some people believe that Stonehenge was man-made and used as a temple by the Druids and also for astronomical uses.
