Stolen (play and Novel)Jimmy and Ruby are the most obvious victims in stolen but all suffer in their different ways.

In stolen all of the characters suffer in different ways and from difference experiences, and although those experiences differ they all share the loss of their families and being institutionalized. Individual characters go thru different experiences although Jimmy and Ruby go through the toughest. Outcomes for the characters range in degree of suffering from both physical and mental abuse, and the degree of damage is shown is the long term.
Ruby is clearly the most damaged, she he abused both mentally and physically and isn’t sure of who she is, Ruby suffers by being institutionalized at an early age, she is sent to white homes and although the other children think she is lucky when she receives little gifts, when they play the clapping game and she “promised not to tell” it’s the harsh reality of what really goes on, Ruby also has her doll, named Ruby to reflect what Ruby has missed out on as a child, “what are we going to do today Ruby, go to the lolly shop?” Later in l...
