Discuss STOLEN ESSAY “This is a nightmare” “The most nightmarish aspects of STOLEN are the ways in which the characters lose control of their own lives”. Discuss. A nightmare : a condition during sleep or dreams marked by severe anxiety, acute fear, distress etc. A monster or evil spirit. Think about it. You just lost control of your life. You’re 4 or 5 yrs old. You were just snatched from your family, and now your sitting in big, black car, with a man who speaks a strange language and keeps yelling at you. “I want my Mummy” you cry, in your native tongue. You don’t know why you were stolen, where you are going or if you can ever go home. But hey, don’t take it out on the man who’s driving. He’s just doing his job. Just following orders given out by a government officer. But don’t blame the officer. He to is just following orders, handed down by the minister. But don’t blame the minister.
