Man’s Small Step


The Apollo 11 Moon Landing was a spectacular technological achievement for the human race in general, and the American people in particular. Apollo 11 successfully achieved its primary mission, to perform a manned lunar landing and return the mission safely to Earth. People were inspired for the first time in their lives; they actually believed they could achieve their dreams. As Henry Ford said, “Now our horizons are virtually limitless… Conquering space can have even a deeper meaning for mankind. To be able to overcome gravity, survive weightlessness and subsist on an earth satellite in the absence of atmosphere should tell us that our problems here on earth are far from insuperable.”** The great forgotten American dream, if you work hard enough good things will happen, came back and Americans believed they could make it.
