Although many types of STD’s exist, the symptoms are treatable, and preventive measures can be taken to decrease one’s chances of contracting on of these painful, incurable, deadly diseases.



Chlamydia is a serious disease that can occur in men and women. Chlamydia comes from genital infection during oral, vaginal, or anal sexual contact with an infected partner. “About three million people are believed to be suffering from Chlamydia at a time.”(Margaret Hyde VD-STD pg.13) Chlamydia can be treated medically to heal. Chlamydia is the largest spreading epidemic STD in the United States.

Syphilis results from the bacteria Treponema pallidum. Syphilis can pass from person to person through direct contact with the infected area. Sores appear commonly on the external genitals, vagina, anus, or in the rectum. The mouth can also contain syphilis sores that occur on the lips or even in the mouth.
