Stay at Home Mothering- the Responsible Decision

The decision to stay home and take care of a child is often a sensitive subject for mothers. Often the time given for leave from a job is only a couple or months, barely enough time to see much of the development of the child and with work hours being more heavy, it is often the mother’s responsibility to decide to stay home full-time or try to make a flexible schedule while sending the child to daycare. Although there may be less cash flowing through the house and a mother may fall out of touch with her social life, there are many advantages to staying at home, especially during the child’s first year. The bond that forms between a mother and child is huge, so being present for the child’s “milestones” can be very important. It has also been found that the experience children have during the first year of life greatly affects their cognitive development by the time they reach three or four.
