start censoring

Censorship has been a touchy subject for quite some time now. Weather it be in television, art, literature, or other mediums, censorship is always a factor of our daily lives, whether we realize it or not. Take television for example, in our country, the Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission (CRTC) is responsible for looking over all the programming that comes on Canadian television. Let us think, for a moment, if this council did not exist, if there was no television censorship in Canada. If this were the case, a few weeks ago, on TSN, a reputable Canadian television station would have shown video of a World Wrestling Entertainment employee climbing into a casket with what was supposed to be the dead body of a teenage girl. While the body in the casket was obviously fake, and the video was part of a television storyline, this is not something that belongs on television for all to see. This is an ideal example of why we, as a society, need censorship. ...
