Stalin started off his political career in 1924 as the General Secretary of the Communist Party. He rose to power only to become the leader of one of the most devastating things Russia has ever seen. This is how he was able to gain control of the communist party in the 1920’s.

The Politburo was a group of seven men (the ruling body of the Communist Party). All of the seven men had important jobs but the one job that seemed the least important was the General Secretary of the Communist Party, this position was filled by Josef Stalin.
Josef Stalin was a sly man who had great plans to make it to the top of the Communist Party. He started off by paper shuffling, he handled all the paper work.
