St. Thomas Aquinas

The objective of this essay is to analyze one article of St. Thomas Aquinas’ Summa Theologiae and to explain your position in either agreeing or disagreeing with it. I have chosen to examine the topic of whether happiness consists in honors. The first part of my essay interprets the objections and replies discussing this topic. I conclude this paper with my personal feelings and beliefs on this disputed issue.
Personal happiness is found to consist in honors in obiections 1-3. In the first objection, the philosopher explains this through stating that happiness is the reward of virtue. The virtuous are honored for there excellence and happiness is a result of their personal virtue. Honor therefore consists of happiness. The second objection, the philosopher states that happiness is possessed by God and all that have superior excellence. Happiness is believed to be the perfect good or the goal.
