Spank or Spare

Spanking, does it cause children to have problems later in life, become violent, confused or possibly cause harm to their family and friends? The following questions have been controversial over the last couple of decades. I can see where there could be some concern, but as a parent of three children, I firmly believe in corporal punishment and do not feel as if it leads to problems later on in life. Some people believe spanking is abusive; others believe that spanking is harmless. There is a large difference between beating a child and spanking a child with love. There are numerous methods that may be utilized in disciplining a child and no matter what method a parent chooses there will always be someone else saying it's wrong.

Professor of sociology, Murray A. Straus, who wrote "Ten Myths That Perpetuate Corporal Punishment", is totally against spanking. In his opinion spanking a child can lead them to become violent, confused or resentful toward their parents...
