South Africa

The transportation and communication in South Africa is very different from Canada's. For instance, in South Africa there is only 3.1 million passenger cars in use, and only 183,000km of road, and only 29% of which is paved. Most of the main railways in South Africa are owned by the state, goverment, or the South African Trasportation Services. In the late 1980's, these agency's opperated about 23,000km of railroad track across South Africa. South Africa also has quite a few seaports which include Cape Town, Mossel Bay, Port Elizabeth, East London, Durban, Saldanha, and Richards Bay. Inland water ways are not commercially important in South Africa. There is only one major airline in South Africa, which is called South African Airways.
