Soul Alone

She stands five-three, icy blue eyes gazing up at you in wonder, crimson hair that catches the light just so right. From the very start it was known she was different. All the while she played the same games, acted out in the same ways, and tried to make a friend without success. Her name is Melyssa. A feeling of despondence grows as the other children leave her behind. No one has she, nor ever will.
Aging not only changes the body, but develops the mind. Most time is spent pondering life and its meanings. A couple of companions are made, yet the emptiness still remains. A soul darkened embarks on a journey of self-discovery only to find what others knew some time ago; no one is like her. Writing is the chosen form of escape, for the pen and paper written on are the only ones who listen and understand.
