“Son & Moon: Scenes from a Maternal Life” by Jennifer Strauss is almost like a basic life story of a son through the eyes of his mother. The main theme is the changing relationship between this mother and son. Each stanza represents another part of the sons’ life, starting with him lurching “unsteadily round the TV set./ She cries;…” (l.2) and the mother crying with joy as she witnesses her sons’ first steps.
