The 70’s was a very significant era. During the early part of the decade, the U.S. economy went through very considerable changes. Some of these changes had a dramatic affect on the importance of earning a college education. These changes made having a college education more important than it had ever been before. One of these important changes was the movement of most factory work to developing nations, such as Tiawan or Mexico. This event had a huge influence on the backslide for people with only high school education.
When large companies and corporations began to realize how much money they could save by moving their factory work to underdeveloped nations, they quickly began to take advantage of the opportunity.
