Socialisation/Theories of Socialisation

As children become adults they face many different types of issues, and experiences. This transition period is commonly known as adolescence, they go through socialisation as they find out whom they are and where their place is in the world. Adolescents being to grow up and as they do this they also learn social norms, how to become a member of society and, what kind of social behaviour is acceptable. Adolescents may learn these by the influence of the socialisation factors, which are family, peers, school, media, location, and others like religion. I have come to believe, that all people who travel through adolescence will at sometime eventually face all the socialisation factors. I know for a fact that they have all influenced my transition period, and I’ll be faced with many more. There has been many theories set forth to help people understand what happens when we are at different stages of life. Some theorists include, Jim Fowler, Erik Erikson, and Abraham Maslow.
