Skinheads towards priesthood
One of the striking and perhaps shocking impressions that I received when I returned from my studies was to be greeted by skinheaded seminarians. It was so radical a phenomenon that I could not but stop to think what is happening to Uganda and perhaps Africa in general. More deeply, I began asking myself whether this was the new guideline to priestly training that seminarians wear a hairless head. But as I woke up from this traumatic trance I realized that that is the general fashion of mostly urbanized populations of this country. What came to mind then was a number of questions, which have prompted me to write this article? Should seminarians take up any secular dress style if it apparently does not disturb the general discipline of the seminary? Is being skinheaded an acceptable mode of being fit for seminarians?
