Skin Cancer Prevention

We’re lucky to live in FL: we have warm sun, beautiful beaches, and nearly perfect weather.
Unfortunately, this wonderful combination can also put Floridians at an increased risk of developing skin cancer. Skin cancer is the most common of all cancers with more than 1 million new cases diagnosed in the US each year, resulting in nearly 10,000 deaths. As Floridians, we are at an even greater risk of developing skin cancer since on a daily basis we are exposed to high level of UV rays.
Although anyone can develop it, there are certain factors that can increase one’s chance at developing skin cancer. Understanding these risks and making efforts to avoid them can prevent, or at least decrease your chances of developing a type of skin cancer.
The main factors of developing skin cancer are heredity, environment, and exposure to the sun.
