sir francis drake

Sir Francis Drake was a pirate and an explorer; he was feared by the Spanish and a hero to the English. He was called the "master thief of the known world." The main focus of this report will be on Drake’s early piracy for England and against Spain.
Francis Drake was born in Crowndale Farm, England. Being born to a poor family, no one kept track of the exact date of his birth which is estimated to be around 1541. Drake had little education though he could read and write. At age 14, he was sent away by his father to work for the captain of a tiny ship that traded between England and Zeeland, an area east of England bordering the North Sea that is now part of the Netherlands. It was during these years that Drake learned how to sail and the ways of the sea. In 1560, when the old captain died, having no children of his own, he left the little ship to Drake.
Before Drake, explorers like Christopher Columbus and Ferdinand Magellan discovered the New World and its riches....
