Sin

Throughout history, people have committed all types of sins, and whether they were important or insignificant, people have been punished. Hester Prynne’s life was changed by a decision made during a single moment. She stood on the scaffold and was given her punishment; “Thus she will be a living sermon against sin, until the ignominious letter be engraved upon her tombstone”(60). The letter “A” she wore was her punishment for committing the sin of adultery. The quotation meant that Hester would always be remembered for her sin forever even after she died.
