Silent Women not so Silent

Humorous texts usually have some similarities in the characters involved, included in them are usually the alazon, eiron, and the silent woman. Each character follows a pattern in and of itself, for example the eiron pretends to be more than he is. The silent women, however, does not have a clear cut definition like the eiron and the alazon. In humorous texts, she usually is the main character in the story or a woman who doesn't follow the “regular female gender role” given other women in the texts. These qualities contributed to why these female characters were so hilarious, but they were also funny because they were deceitful, tricky, and they were more sexual than any of the other women in the readings. In the other texts discussed (i.e. the carnival and alazon) the women were not nearly as entertaining as the women in the silent women texts; they seemed more dominated and never stood their ground or stuck up for themselves.
