Shrek essay

How do the makers of ‘Shrek’ use presentational devices to reverse this tradition, to reveal the ogre as good and the prince as evil?

In traditional fairytales, ogres are man-eating beasts. The prince usually rescues the princess, they marry and live happily ever after but in this film there is a twist to it.
In this essay I am going to include lighting (to show isolation and happiness in the characters), setting (where the film is set, traditional or not). Music and sound effects (to show good and evil in the film), Characters (whether they are traditional or not). Camera shots (how the character feels, big, small or on the same level as everyone else). I will also show how ‘Shrek’ is different from other fairy tales e.g. Snow White.
