Should euthanasia be legalised?

Euthanasia, also known as ‘mercy killing’, is the act of purposely making or helping someone who is terminally ill die instead of letting nature takes its course. Life is precious and each and everyone of us is unique so we should not let other people decide when to end our lives. Hence in view of that, euthanasia should not be legalised.

But why do patients choose euthanasia instead of living out their lives? People, in most cases like families of the terminally ill patient says it is because they have a terminal illness and constantly live in excessive and chronic pain. Families believe that they have a serious disorder or disease which has effected their quality of life to the point where they are no longer wish to continue living. Whereas the patient feels that they have lost their independence, personal dignity as they must be cared for continually. Or most patients realise simply because they wish to have total control over the process of how they die.
