should canada strengthen it's ties with america

North America, a continent shared by two major countries: Canada and America. These two countries have a good relationship but is it good enough, or is it too good?

Many people believe that by increasing Canada’s economic ties with America it will strengthen our country as a whole. An example might be the combination of America’s strong military position in the world, and Canada having a very good political status for peace keeping and a world wide problem solver. This alliance should be able to solve many problems in the world. With NORAD and other defense stations protecting North America and America’s military offensive capabilities we are very well protected.

However, there could be drawbacks to this invincible alliance. By letting America protect us, Canada may not develop a very strong military. If another world war breaks out, Canada could be targeted because of it’s weak military. Damage could be done...
