Short Story

A Stage to Remember

I remember the first time I stepped in to the Saunders auditorium. I felt so tiny because it is a huge auditorium, the largest in any of the London high schools, and I was only in Grade 9. There seemed to be an endless number of seats, and by the time I walked up to the back row, I was exhausted. The room was about the size of four gymnasiums put together plus the stage. The room was divided in to four sections, three of which could be closed off for smaller functions. Each section had its own panelled wall that moved around the section. The section that was left over was the front section consisting of about 250 seats from approximately 1300 seats.
I remember the smell of the musty stale air, and the moldy wood walls looked like a cross-section of a cardboard box...
