Shakespeare Hamlet passage analysis

· CONTEXT: ACT 2, scene ii.
- Hamlet is left alone after a player preformed a speech for him.
- Recently, two of Hamlet’s friends, Rosencrantz and Guildenstern arrived to find out the source of Hamlet’s supposed madness.
- Hamlet asks if the actors can perform the murder of Gonzago as well as additional lines Hamlet will write for them

· PURPOSE:
- We see Hamlet’s indecisiveness, perhaps his TRAGIC FLAW?
- Depression afflicts him again
- Hamlet is unsure if he should revenge his father’s murder
- Realizes he believes the ghost
- Hints at a way he intends on exposing the king for who he is.
