It certainly doesn’t seem like that at Myrtle Middle School in New Jersey. Mr. Pilone, an eighth grade teacher, decided that he would experiment by creating single-gender classes. Why would separating the boys from the girls create any new change, and make the school a better place? Single-gender classes just create more tension amongst everyone, and they are not as successful as co-ed classes. The experiment Mr. Pilone tried proved to raise the girl’s scores a bit, but it showed no improvement in the boy’s departmen...
