seed germinatio

Abstract
Barley (Hordeum Vulgarevar) is a cereal having the flowers in dense spikes with long awns and three spikelets at each joint of the rachis. Grown under a red or green light, barley can either grow at a faster rate, or have some kind of growth deformities than under a normal natural light source. This experiment was designed to see which color of light (red, green, or no color) would affect seed germination and produce more dramatic results. A total of 15 petri dishes were used with 10 seeds in each dish. Five dishes had green film paper on top, five more had red film paper on top, and the remaining five had clear saran wrap on top. After two weeks of growth, all 15 dishes produced about the same rate of growth, with a few in each that had deformities.

Introduction
Red light is used in photosynthesis, however green light is not. In photosynthesis, a significant amount of energy from light is actually stored for later use. In photosynthesis, water is drawn up throu...
