Secret Life of bees

The Two Sides

In The Secret Life of Bees, a novel by Sue Monk Kidd, there are several well-developed characters. Most of them are women, but there are also men. What is unique about the male characters is that they tend to divide into two forces, the good and the bad. It is proper to say thte the positive characters redeem images of males presented by the negative ones.
Lily, the main character of the novel, is a girl in her teens who lives a harsh life at home. Her mom's death touches her greatly and leaves her with desire to find out more. She is much tired of living at home with her father to whom she refers to as T. Ray. He is very bad at being a parent too his daugher because he never cares for her, nor shows any form of affection.
