Seclusion

Both “The Trial” and “Nineteen-Eighty-Four” deal with corrupted legal systems in their storylines. The two novels have an invisible, phantom like legal system that does not fulfill the protagonist’s expectations. In Joseph’s case the legal system does not satisfy his expectations in the sense that when he defends himself in front of the court he expects to be heard and that his defense would bring him closer to be found innocent.
