Screwtape Letters- Love and Marriage

Throughout The Screwtape Letters by C.S. Lewis, Screwtape just cannot understand God’s feelings and thoughts on love and marriage. God’s outlook on love that the good of one person is the good of another is derived from His Trinitarian existence. Screwtape cannot comprehend this because, to him, the fact that things are many yet also one at the same time, is impossible.
Through Screwtape, Lewis says that “the Enemy’s designs (or, God’s designs)” for marriage are “fidelity, fertility, and goodwill,” and that love as we describe it (affection, emotion, and sexual attraction)...
