Can we Reconcile Science and Religion?

As humans, we have many questions without answers to them. Why are we here? Why is the world here? Why does the world behave the way it does? And the only remotely valid responses are science and religion. While the explanations vary, the goal of the two remains the same: truth and understanding regarding our reality. Religion had these questions answered without conflict for thousands of years, the answer to all questions dealing with who we are and what the world is, started and ended with God. Throughout the middle ages, the word of the Bible was the literal truth. Needless to say, any existential conversations were short.
