Scholarship AIDS Essay

What behavior patterns do you think your peer group could change to prevent them from becoming infected with the HIV/AIDS virus?

The summer before my senior year in high school, I participated in a pilot program offered by the East Orange Health Department. The program assigned teenagers the task of advocating HIV/AIDS awareness and prevention to their peer group. As a member of that small group, I learned that my peer group has the tendency to engage or allow themselves to fall victim to a higher rate of possibly contracting the HIV/AIDS virus.
As time passed, I took numerous steps to understand our behavior in relation to sex. As I discussed these matters with my supervisor at the time, she informed me that we treat sex as if it is a normal and meager act which holds no consequences.
