Scholarly Argument for Distance Learning

“Distance learning is learning that takes place when the instructor and student are not in the same room, but instead are separated by physical distance. But, the “distance” in the term does not imply any particular degree of separation. Two other terms that are related to distance learning are distance education and distributed education. Distance education is often used interchangeably with distance learning because distance learning should be the result of receiving distance education. Distributed education is used often to describe programs where courses are taught online and collaboration and “virtual interaction” among students in the same course are encouraged (Connick, 3). In summation, distance learning involves the students learning and application of learning at a physical distance communicating via video, voice, or computer technologies.
