Scarlet Letter

In the novel The Scarlet Letter, Hester Prynne wears the scarlet letter “A” on her bosom. In this novel the “A” comes to mean three different things. The three symbols of the “A” are adultery, angel, and able.
In the beginning of the novel the reader finds that Hester Prynne has committed the sin of adultery. She now has to bear the letter “A” on her chest for all to see. The “A” in this instance represents “Adultery.” The significance to the “A” in this instance is that now she is marked for all to see.
