SARS

STUDENTS on Guangzhou, Beijing or Shanghai campuses may be more concerned about the state of their health now than ever before thanks to the SARS (severe acute respiratory syndrome) outbreak.

The mysterious disease can spread quickly in densely-populated areas. However, students seem to be well informed and do not see any reason for panic and campus life seems to be normal.

The most obvious sign of change might be the fact that some students have taken to wearing surgical mask as a precaution.
