Battle of the Bulge


It all started in the winter of 1944, the Germans launched an unexpected attack on the Americans. This attack lead to a battle, the Battle of the Bulge. They called it the Battle of the Bulge because of the bulging shape of the battleground on a map. The battle began on December 16th as warming weather drew a dense mist from the snow between Monschau, Germany and Echternach, Luxembourg-the thinnest edge of the allied line. It lasted till January 28, 1945 and was the largest land battle of WWII in which the US participated. More than a million men fought in this battle, 600,000 Germans, 500,000 Americans, and 55,000 British.
The Battle of the Bulge was the worst battle in terms of looses to the American forces in WWII because of the fact that they were not fully aware of the attack by the Germ...
