In this album Count Bassie’s Band played the melodies for Sara Vaughan. The instruments & players are as follows: Sony Cohon, Thad Jones, Joe Newman & Snooky Young on trumpets; Henry Coker, Al Grey, Benny Powell on trombones; Marshall Royal on alto saxophone & clarinet; Frank Wess on alto saxophone, tenor saxophone & flute; Frank Foster on tenor saxophone; Billy Mitchell on tenor saxophone; Charlie Fowkles on baritone saxophone & guitar; Eddie Jones on bass; and Sony payne on drums. Track 1: Perdido – In this song the lines rhythms with each other. This is where she really shows how good of a BeBop singer. Her vocals are really put to the test in this song. The notes that she hits are unbelievable & the lyrics are also unbelievable too. This is one of the few songs you can actually dance to. Track 2: Lover Man ...
