Samoa

Most of my interviews were done at the University of Hawaii at Manoa. What I found out about what people think is the best thing about family is, majority of them answered the love that you can’t find anywhere else. The respect and dignity that is upheld in the family, the support that is there when times are tough. However, the downfall of it all is the fact that one day someone in the family will past away. This was the main concern in all of my interviews. My interview ranged from the age groups 18-45.

All my interviews were done with Samoan males. The attitude of these men and their involvement in infant and childcare are very understandable because it sounds exactly like my fathers attitude. When the infant is born, the father will be there to support the wife and infant. He will help change the diapers, shower the kid, and feed the infant. The father will be there from ages 1 to about 3 just to create that bond. However, from ages 5 and up the child ...
