SADDAM HUSSEIN [1937]
Saddam Hussein was born on April 28, 1937 near the town of Tikrit in northern Iraq. He is born to a poor peasant family and his father disappeared before his birth. He went to live with his influential uncle and was linked two several murders during his younger years including his school teacher and cousin.
At the age of 20 Saddam joined the all-famous Ba’th party and in 1957 was denied admission to the Baghdad military academy. This was due to him not completing high school. In 1959 he attempted assassination of the prime minister of Iraq and was charged and sentenced to death. Escaping from the prison, he fled to Egypt where he finished high school and started his path towards becoming a rebellious leader.
February 1963 to November 1963 was the first Ba'th regime in Iraq. Saddam, a mid-level operative, took no part in the reign. After the collapse of the Ba'th regime in November 1963, Saddam takes charge of organizing a Ba'th security organization. This be...
