Objective: -to compare solubilities of salts belonging to the alkaline earth metals
-to compare the oxidizing power of the Halogens

Procedure:
Part A: Relative Solubilities of Some Salts of the Alkaline Earth Metals:

1) Add 5 drops of 0.1 mol/L solution of each of the nitrate salts (magnesium, calcium, strontium, and barium) to separate test tubes
2) Add 5 drops of 1 mol/L sulfuric acid (precipitating agent) to each test tube and then stir it. Make sure to rinse the rod before mixing each solution.
3) Record rather a precipitate has formed, its color, and amount.
4) Repeat steps 1-3 us...
