russion revolution

The Russian Revolution was a series of events in Imperial Russia which reached its final point in 1917 with the establishment of the USSR (Union of Soviet Socialist Republics). The Revolution refers collectively to two successful revolutions of 1917. The first revolution known as the March revolution began with the revolt of March 8 –12. This put an end to the imperial monarchy. The Bolshevik or October revolution was the second of 1917 and was organized by the Bolshevik (communist) party against the provisional government. This created changes in political, social and economical relationships in Russian society.

There are many reasons why the revolution occurred. Most were caused by the reforms of Tsar Alexander 2nd who unleashed a movement for constitutional change but for many years leading up to 1917 Russia’s social system was in turmoil. In the 1890’s and under the rule of Tsar Nicholas, 80 percent of Russia’s population of 130 million people were peasants. Little more ...
