Russias Revolution

Nicholas had a great role in the Russian revolution, which also contributed, to his own downfall. Many factors contributed to the Russian revolution. One of these factors was the autocracy, which Russia was ruled by was falling apart.
Other factors were after 1902 the economic slump, which resulted in famine, military defeat and political repression. The murder of hundreds of Russians who were on strike in what we now call bloody Sunday 1905 as well as the 1912 Lena goldfields massacre. Further strikes led to the October Manifesto. Russia’s failure to industrialize and their involvement in world war one saw the nation start to crumble at the rule of the autocratic government. Russia was faced with major defeat in the First World War due to the poor organization on the government s behalf. Due to the war there were major breakdowns in Russia s food supply, transportation, fuel shortages and inflation.
