Romeo & Juliet

Title:Romeo and Juliet is an avoidable tragedy. Discuss in detail how the situation could have been avoided; who or what is to blame.



The death of Romeo and Juliet appear to be unnecessary, mainly due to the fact that it was the pride of the people around them that made the relationship seem more risky and miserable. In the beginning of the play the prologue suggests that fate was to blame (Elizabethans created superstition by reading in to the stars) examples of this include: "a pair of star-crossed lovers and death marked love."

Romeo was a young teenager of the Montagues that always fell in love, his easily persuaded mind and his unique romantic charm lead him in falling in love with someone who he knew he could not be with: " my love is the daughter of my sworn enemy." His love for Rosaline would have been the only escape to an unfortunate fate if it was as strong as Romeo at first suggested: " Not having that which having makes them short." The turning point for Rome...
