Romeo and Juliet


Romeo and Juliet is tragic romance written by William Shakespeare. From the beginning the audience are led to believe that this story will end tragically. During the play there are many times when a different path could have been chosen by Romeo or Juliet which may have led to a different ending. This would have given them the chance to change their fate. I believe that the path we choose can be changed and this will change the course of fate.

In Romeo and Juliet there are many examples of foretelling which reveal that the story will end dramatically. In the foretelling when Tibalt recognises Romeo’s voice at his party he wants to fight with him. He sends his page boy to fetch his sword but is stopped by Old Capulet who insists that Romeo should stay, and Tibalt swears for revenge. “I shall withdraw: but this intrusion shall Now seeming sweet convert to bitterest gal”.
