Romeo and Juliet

For generations, Shakespeare has been regarded as a great High Culture representer and he¡¯s plays are the best ever written. ¡°Romeo and Juliet¡±, a tragic romantic story about two star-cross lover is one of Shakespeare¡¯s best work. Now four centuries later, Baz Luhrmann¡¯s film of ¡°Romeo and Juliet¡± once again stirs up the deep, inner most feelings of humanity and shoots high up into the glory of modern films.

Both texts are popular for their own reasons. The original play of Shakespeare features the story through word imageries. However, it¡¯s lack of sound and visual images free our imaginations and allow us to picture all the scenes widely. By closely looking at the language techniques, we can study the style of the language used and gain a better understanding of Shakespeare, Elizabethan¡¯s time and of cause, the play ¡°Romeo and Juliet¡±.
