This is the story of Maximus. The time in which he lived, the people he conflicted with, and his character made him who he was. This is a very unique story about this man’s life and what he did during it. It is also a great way to portray how Rome functioned after the death of the last good emperor.
After the time period of the Paw Roma, Rome was a well-established empire. The Senate did not have the power they wanted, Rome was not a republic. There was a big difference between the rich and the poor. The poor people worked hard to support their family. Most of the Roman Empire was made up of the middle class.
