I don¡¦t know what Romanticism is, and though I¡¦ve been offered some definitions before, I think it¡¦s better that I remain unknowing for the time being. The Romanticism I dealt with last semester was American Romanticism, a category which included such disparate authors as Emerson and Melville, Whitman, Thoureau, and even Frederick Douglass.
