Role of Women in the Ancient World

Women play a major role in the world. They should've been considered more important than they were in the ancient world. If it weren't for women there wouldn't be any children. There wouldn't be a Mother Teressa or a Princess Diana. In the ancient world women were mostly looked down upon. Men took control of everything including the women and their children. They were placed under the authority of their husbands and fathers. Women were treated unfair in different areas of the ancient world. Hammurabi and Buddha had set laws that dealt with the way women were to live.
Women had different rights and were treated differently throughout the world. In Egypt, women were treated better than any of the other major civilizations in the ancient world (www.womenshistory.about.com/cs/ancient). Marriage and offspring were always considered desirable.
