Rocks

Rocks

Rocks are formed when hot, magma cools down and hardens on the surface of the earth. Many times the rocks formed from the original magma and then changes due to different types of magma.

There is a cycle called the rock cycle. The rock cycle is a series of process in which a rock changes from one type to another type. When igneous rock is formed the earth breaks down the rock into sediments. When these sediments, from the igneous rock, are compacted and hardened, they form sedimentary rocks. At high temperature and a great amount of pressure, the rock becomes metamorphic. When the pressure becomes a little more intense, the metamorphic rock will become magma. Then the magma cools and forms a new rock. Also igneous rock can be changed to metamorphic rock without changing into sediments. Igneous and sedimentary rock can be melted without becoming a metamorphic rock.
