Rewarding VolunteersCase Study

Issue: Actual event with University name changed!
Northern University was granted a license for a public radio station with specific goals. The radio station did not succeed where the specific goals were concerned. There were no written specific job descriptions or feedback system for volunteer performance and the Director was not qualified enough to develop one.
When the university was granted a license for a public radio station, the goals were clear. One goal was to provide quality noncommercial broadcasting emphasizing local and national news as well as some music. Not enough funds were available to provide employment for a professional staff. Therefore, they were to temporarily recruit volunteer students and faculty members until such funds could be offered. This would also develop professional announcers.
